Angela Macias: My journey began 23 years ago when I discovered Mysore Ashtanga Yoga whilst living in London. I spent six years practicing with renowned teacher Alexander Medin who was directly trained by the Guru Sri Pittabhi Jois, I was fortunate enough to attend a workshop with Sri Pittabhi Jois before he sadly passed away. and also a workshop with John Scott one of the leaders in ashtanga. These influential people gave me a sound base of the ashtanga yoga series and a platform to develop my own style.
I was curious to discover new types of yoga and deepen my understanding, In some of the best studios in London, (Try yoga and The Llife Centre) I practiced all the types available Ievamuchi, Iyengar, Yin Yoga and Shadow Yoga, this brought me to the discovery of Vinyasa Flow, I was fascinated by the dynamism, creativity and the vibrancy of contemporary dance music that this style combined, After a number of years practicing Flow I knew I had to enrol on the Vinyasa Flow intensive teacher training program**, lead by the amazing teacher, Alessandra Pecorella who in turn studied in California with one of the top yoga flow practitioners Shiva Rea
Three years ago I moved to Valencia, with the clear intention of opening a yoga studio that would take all I had learnt over the past two decades, and bring a vibrant, fresh way to practice yoga to a new audience, and thats how Yoga Flow VLC was born.
The Vinyasa flow I practice today was developed by the Guru T Krishnamachara who taught the fluid movements and patterns that take the yoga student forwards to achieving the Asanas (series of poses) The Asanas are connected through the rhythmic breathing. Each class varies from the one before, each one unique, A different number and order of asanas, keeping you on your toes, improving your centre of balance, core strength and posture. 1.5 hrs of full intensive workout for the intermediate to advanced level student.
Due to its diverse nature, Flow has become one of the most popular yoga styles in Europe and the USA. It is full of energy and its ancient techniques and knowledge can be applied to modern life to make us calmer and more content .My ambition is to give to other people a part of what yoga has given to me.
